The Perfect Income for Happiness? It`s $161,000

americannovice | Nov 30, 2012 12:59 PM ET Do I hear $161,000.01? Depends on where you live. Million dollar closet on Broadway, Big Apple? Depends on how you want to live? Live in basic Pork&Beans, or impress everyone? Can you imagine Mr. Donald Trump living on anything less than $161,000.00 an hour?

americannovice | Nov 30, 2012 01:01 PM ET The Made In China gang is content with $161.00 a year.

americannovice | Nov 30, 2012 01:09 PM ET Most of us would rather have a $161,000. of interest money, or $161,000.00/yr of Capital Gains money. Who wants to toil like a slave for pay? We want free, the-check-is-in-the-mail money like Mitt Romney. Boo to driving daily in gridlock, clocking in, and listening to a bully boss.

TxChristopher | Nov 30, 2012 01:11 PM ET More.

Jay070 | Nov 30, 2012 01:14 PM ET Most Americans are not even close to the $161,000 per year income. Most live in fear of losing their jobs or getting sick. But the politicians? They are busy taking bribes from their constituents (lobbyists) and have wealth that takes away the worry of medical bills, car repairs, or mortgages.

Jay070 | Nov 30, 2012 01:15 PM ET "TxChristopher | Nov 30, 2012 01:11 PM ET More." What do you do to earn such wealth? Are you a banker or something?

gee.la | Nov 30, 2012 01:25 PM ET Let me give you a case. Someone has very bad cancer and is waiting for death. How much income or wealth he should have to make him happy. Most people don’t understand happiness or understand it in a very foolishly way. Still in their depths of mind, money is everything and the only thing for happiness.

gee.la | Nov 30, 2012 01:41 PM ET If money is the only thing and everything for happiness, you will never fell happy and always feel nervous and unhappy. Too much greed makes you short-lived. Someone else may like to see that happens. Forget money. Do whatever you wanted to do, to make things done, to help others to live longer, healthier and happier. I don’t think you need be worried too much about the money thing.

pocketprotector | Nov 30, 2012 01:47 PM ET This is a regurgitated story form a few months ago. The liberals drag these stories out when they want to sway opinion their way. In this case they want to convince you that tax increases are ok, so you don`t need more than $75k to be happy. Its just more of their SOCIALIST agenda. Don`t fall for it.

ninthgate | Nov 30, 2012 01:53 PM ET "Net income" presumably equals the income AFTER taxes and general living expenses, but the article doesn`t say.
