Not true....Homes are INDEED an investment. They provide other benefit...such as tax benefits that make them truly investments. Not investments that always go up....but investments none the less. 0 Reply

It might be more accurate to say that homes are bad investments. If you crunch the numbers you may conclude that it beats paying rent but it is still a bad investment. Unless you luck out and buy in an area where property values explode then there is no way you will get all the money back that you put into your home through mortgage payments, taxes, maintenance, etc.. 0 Reply

I`m not going to blast this couple because I really don`t know their situation. Maybe the medical issues were just too much. That being said, there has been just too many people that walked away from their commitments and the primary reason was that they bought when the prices were high and now don`t want to pay the bill. There is also a lot of people living for free in their homes because the banks don`t want to foreclose just yet. No one ever said everything in life would be fair. 0 Reply

"If defaulters show that extenuating circumstances caused the foreclosure -- such as a health issue that prevented them from working, a layoff, a divorce or other one-time event -- the wait may be reduced to three years." Why else would someone end up getting foreclosed on? 0 Reply

It`s called a strategic default. A lot of people walked away from their homes as a sound business decision. It had nothing to do with hardship. I would have thought it would take longer for banks to give these people another chance but I guess that`s not the case. 2 Reply
